Elk Lake will still be warm in early September, and there will be kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards available. There are several moorings if you'd like to rent a boat for the weekend. The grounds also include tennis and pickleball courts, a basketball court, a shuffleboard court, a beach volleyball area, and a bocce area. Bring a Spikeball set if you have one!

Short's is 1.5 miles from White Birch Lodge and has good beer and lots of outdoor seating. There's usually a food truck or two on-site.

Pearl's is 1.2 miles from White Birch Lodge and a family favorite. The cherry margarita is a must-try.

If you want to romp around in the woods, Glacial Hills offers 30+ miles of beautiful trails. It's a half-hour drive from White Birch Lodge.

If you want to get out of Elk Rapids, Sleeping Bear on the northeast shore of Lake Michigan is pretty spectacular. It's about an hour west of White Birch Lodge and could be a solid day trip.

For the golfers among you, there are several renowned courses nearby. We'll let you do your own research.

There are quite a few wineries along the Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail within an hour of White Birch Lodge.
